A Message from the GFL Board:

First and foremost, we hope this email finds you well and safe. As we all continue to deal with these unprecedented times, we want you to know that the GFL Board has been working diligently to prepare for the upcoming GFL season.

Our planning is the same as any other GFL season, but with the addition of how to keep the GFL family safe as we look towards our upcoming season. The safety of the GFL spectators and athletes are of upmost importance.

The GFL along with Northside Hospital Sports Medicine’s team is in the process of looking at what safety measures can be implemented to ensure we are doing our part to try and keep everyone safe and well. All of this is of course contingent on Gwinnett County opening the parks, and any other national, state, or local restrictions put in place.

Keep in mind that this is a fluid situation, so restrictions may be put in place that require the GFL to make some changes to the way practices or games are handled. While we fully expect to play a regular season, we have to also be prepared that adjustments may be needed. We will continue to update our GFL family as soon as updates become available.

Thank you all for the continued support of the GFL. We look forward to being back together and on the field soon.

April 30, 2020

As we all know there is uncertainty surrounding the COVID19 Restrictions and how that will affect the GFL, Unfortunately there is a lot of misinformation and rumors circulating about what the GFL is planning to do. First and foremost the safety and welfare of the children is and always will be our NUMBER ONE CONCERN!!

We operate under the guidelines and are directly impacted by the policies and decisions of Gwinnett County and the Gwinnett County School Board. Currently they have not released what their policies will be regarding the opening of parks and schools. We are monitoring their decisions and will be ready to react and adjust to any restrictions and policies they put in place. It would be pure speculation at this point as to what we will be able to do. All that being said, we are anticipating and planning that the 2020 GFL Football & Cheerleading Season will start as planned and scheduled.

We are discussing and reviewing the “what if’s” should adjustments be required. Our hope is things will become clearer in the next couple of weeks. We understand and share your frustration that we can not provide a definitive answer, but we do not control the decisions and restrictions that our governing bodies will enact. Please be patient as we navigate through the chaos.

We will update you as soon as we can.

Plan & Discussion Details in the Works

  • Our medical partner will be developing guidelines for us regarding players/cheerleaders safety
  • We will be following the GHSA guidelines regarding their policies for players, cheerleaders, coaches and fans
  • We are discussing the impact on registration and options if they become necessary
  • We are discussing the impact on uniform ordering, both football & cheer, and options should it be necessary
